Unable to start the latest development version of JabRef 6.0 without an internet connection

Checked with the latest development build (copy version output from About dialog)

• I made a backup of my libraries before testing the latest development version.
• I have tested the latest development version and the problem persists

Steps to reproduce the behaviour

First, install the latest development build for linux-amd64 (jabref_6.0.deb). After installation, try to start the program by typing /opt/jabref/bin/JabRef --debug. It will show a message like this:

It always tries to download libc10.so.gz. The last working version I used was:

JavaFX 26.0.1+0

Hi @NeymanDmitry, thank you for reporting this issue.

Could you please attach the full logs and describe what happens at the end? Does JabRef fail to start and exits with a non-zero exit code, or do you see another error? What is the last error message printed in the terminal?

I just tried to reproduce the issue. I can confirm that JabRef reports an error when it fails to download the embedding model (which is expected), but JabRef still starts normally after that without any problems

Now, everything works fine in the latest version (JabRef 6.0-alpha.117--2026-06-02--7b06990). It was related to the inability to load the embedded file at first startup. Everything worked after enabling the VPN. Now it works even without the internet.
