Root-caused this — fix in #752. Reproduced the black-square symptom on Nobara KDE as well, so it's not Cinnamon-specific.

Cause: upstream 1.13576+ replaced the runtime platform check for the tray icon format with a build-time constant baked for the Windows build (uPi="ico"), routed through a switch(uPi){case"ico":…Tray-Win32.ico…;case"png":…TrayIconTemplate…}. Since this project repackages the Windows asar verbatim, that constant stays "ico" on Linux, so the tray loads the Windows multi-resolution Tray-Win32.ico — which Electron's nativeImage renders as a black square on the freedesktop/KDE StatusNotifier.

It slipped past the build because the existing icon patch was rewriting the now-dead template-image/png case (so it logged green) while the live "ico" case stayed broken.

Fix (#752): wrap the switch discriminant so Linux takes the already-theme-aware "png" case — switch(process.platform==="linux"?"png":uPi) — which selects the TrayIconTemplate[-Dark].png assets the build already ships and processes for visibility. Verified end-to-end against the real 1.15962.0 app.asar; a runtime check on an affected host before release is still welcome.

Note: this is distinct from the tray fix in #751 (that one addresses a duplicate-icon race on theme change, not the black square).

1. Open the fix(tray): route icon format to png on Linux — fixes black-square tray icon (#746) #752 CI run → Actions tab on the PR → download the claude-desktop-amd64-appimage artifact (unzip it).
2. Quit any running Claude Desktop, then run the AppImage:

   chmod +x claude-desktop-*.AppImage
   ./claude-desktop-*.AppImage
   

3. Check the Cinnamon system-tray icon: it should now show the Claude logo instead of the black/empty square, and the right-click menu (Show App / Quit) should work.
