Support archiving accounts

Upstream has recently implemented (clients, server) one of the most requested features ever - archiving old accounts.

It'd be great to have it supported on vaultwarden as well.

Well, you could modify the KNOWN_FLAGS array

to include this new feature flag pm-19148-innovation-archive, enable it as experimental feature flag locally and check if it just works or if there are further modifications to the backend like new endpoints needed to help out a bit? Personally I think that we should wait until this is not hidden behind a feature flag anymore because in the past those features were prone to change.

Well, that's for a completely different code base and I don't magically know what changes need to be done just because you have linked it.

Yep and you have my thanks for making us aware of this upcoming change but unless someone is stepping up to look into it, your request alone will do nothing to expedite the process, hence my proposal that you check out what happens. (You would also have to use the upcoming v2025.10.0 web-vault dani-garcia/bw_web_builds#218 which has not been merged yet).

From a quick look, and without any Csharp knowledge, it seems the bulk of the backend changes are a new nullable ArchivedDate column to the Cipher table, and a few CRUD endpoints to {un,}set it. The rest seems to be on the client side, which is good news for vaultwarden :)

Upstream schema is changing further. Instead of Cipher.ArchivedDate they want to use a new Cipher.Archives column. More details in the linked PR.

I just wanted to leave my 👍for this FR, as my list of accounts/cards/etc. has become overwhelmingly large and i don't want to delete e.g. expired credit cards, but rather just archive them.

It seems upstream has decided to make this a premium-only feature.

As long as it's available under the GPLv3 that is not an issue. In Vaultwarden every account has premium automatically as we don't have added support for different subscription plans.
