Unexpected Error on login MacOS Client version 2026.4.0 but works with 2026.3.1

instead of using docker compose i used podman and created quadlet files from the docker-compose file so the podman pods autostart after system reboot.

1. Install MacOS client v2026.4.0
2. Set it up as usual (give the instance URL)
3. Try to login
4. See the unexpected error

Log in to vault and use Bitwarden

Unexpected error banner and no login

Issue:

Unable to use client on Macos

General info:

• vaultwarden running using podman compose (as quadlet with auto update)
• vaultwarden version: 1.36.0
• Client OS: MacOS Tahoe
• Client Version: v2026.4.0
• Issue: Unable to login - "An unexpected error has occurred"
• How to reproduce: upgrade client from v2026.3.1 to v2026.4.0
• expected behaviour: log into client
• actual behaviour: login not possible unless downgrading client to v2026.3.1

What I have tried:

• Clearing data locations of client
• Installing from homebrew vs Appstore vs download client from official webpage
• Downgrading to older client version
