I was surprised to learn that items landing on a turtle egg break the egg in the default Purpur config. To maintain the opt-in and drop-in approach Purpur generally takes, these additional entities (items, experience orbs, and minecarts) should match Vanilla behavior and not break turtle eggs unless the server owner chooses to enable it.
